Ingredients for Yummy Dal

  • Toor Dal - 1 cup
  • Tamarind - Lemon-sized piece (soaked)
  • Tomatoes - 2
  • Onion - Optional
  • Green Chillies - 3
  • Turmeric - ½ tsp
  • Salt - As per taste
  • MM Masala - 2-3 tbsp (adjust to desired spice level)

Preparation

Yummy Dal in 3 Steps

  1. Chop the tomatoes, onions, and green chillies.
  2. Add the toor dal, tamarind puree, and all other ingredients (including MM Masala) to a pressure cooker.
  3. Cook for 2-3 whistles, then turn off the heat and allow the pressure to release naturally.
  4. Once the cooker has cooled, prepare the seasoning: Hegarlic (if using). Allow the sat oil in a small pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, red chillies, curry leaves, and eeds to crackle.
  5. Add this seasoning to the cooked dal and mix well.Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
