Yummy Dal in 3 steps
This Yummy Dal is a quick, flavorful dal made with toor dal, tamarind, tomatoes, green chilies, and MM Masala for a spicy kick. Cooked in a pressure cooker, it's seasoned with mustard seeds, cumin, and curry leaves. Serve hot with rice and ghee or roti, and experiment with leafy vegetables like spinach or amaranth for a delicious variation.
Ingredients for Yummy Dal
- Toor Dal - 1 cup
- Tamarind - Lemon-sized piece (soaked)
- Tomatoes - 2
- Onion - Optional
- Green Chillies - 3
- Turmeric - ½ tsp
- Salt - As per taste
- MM Masala - 2-3 tbsp (adjust to desired spice level)

Preparation
Yummy Dal in 3 Steps
- Chop the tomatoes, onions, and green chillies.
- Add the toor dal, tamarind puree, and all other ingredients (including MM Masala) to a pressure cooker.
- Cook for 2-3 whistles, then turn off the heat and allow the pressure to release naturally.
- Once the cooker has cooled, prepare the seasoning: Hegarlic (if using). Allow the sat oil in a small pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, red chillies, curry leaves, and eeds to crackle.
- Add this seasoning to the cooked dal and mix well.Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
