Yummy Dal in 3 steps

  • Chop the tomatoes, onions, green chillies.
  • Add the toor dal, and all the other ingredients including tamarind puree in a pressure cooker and keep it for 2 -3 whistles. Turn off the gas.
  • Once the cooker is cool, add the seasoning and server hot with rice and ghee or roti.
  • Similarly in place of tomatoes, you could use any leafy vegetables like palak, Amaranth leaves, pumpkin, for making yummy dal in a jiffy.

Ingredients

For Yummy Dal:

  • Toor Dal – 1 cup
  • Tamarind – lemon size (Soaked)
  • Tomatoes – 2
  • Onion – optional
  • Green chillies – 3
  • Turmeric
  • Salt – as per taste
  • Magic ingredient – MM Masala – 2-3 tbsp (as per the spice level)

Seasoning:

  • Mustard seeds
  • Cumin seeds
  • Red Chillies - 2
  • Curry leaves
  • Coriander leaves
  • Garlic – optional
